Weather: the average year-round temperature is 78F. During the high tourist season, October to April, the temperature is typically 80F during the day and cools to the 60 is at night. In the low season, May to September, the temperature will go up to 100+F during the day and stay in the upper 70's and low 80's in the evening. The average year-round water temperature in the Sea of Cortez is 75F. The climate is arid with over 300 days of sunshine.

The Airport
More than 150 flights land at San José del Cabo International Airport every week.
Air carriers with regular schedule and service include American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Alaska Airlines, America West, Mexicana, Aero Mexico and Aero California. Most East Coast travelers will connect to their Los Cabos flight in Atlanta, Dallas and Houston. Travelers from the West Coast have a choice of direct service from several gateways including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver.

Time: Mountain Standard Time is observed, which is one hour ahead of Pacific Standard Time, one hour behind Central Standard Time and two hours behind Eastern Standard Time.

Government taxes: The tax rate for goods and services is currently 10% in Los Cabos.

Immigration: United States citizens need a passport and a return ticket to enter the country.

Insurance: Most air carriers’ responsibility for lost passenger baggage is very limited. You may wish to consult your insurance agent.

Medication: Always carry medication with you or secure it in your in-room safe. Prescription medication should remain in its original container.

Time zones: When it is 12 noon in New York, it is 11:00 am in Cancun.

Electricity: Mexico’s electrical current is 110 volts AC – the same as the U.S.

Currency:The Mexican currency is the "Peso" and it is indicated by $ symbol. The U.S. dollar is widely accepted, as are most major credit cards. Banking hours in Mexico are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. There are also ATM machines all around in case you run short of cash. Money can be exchanged at Banks or “Casas de Cambio” of which some remain open throughout the day and are located in the downtown area and other convenient places.

Language:Spanish is the native language, though fluent English is spoken in most tourist facilities.
