TODOS SANTOS FESTIVAL ART

This year, 2009, marks the 12th annual Todos Santos Art Festival. The Art Festival might not be exactly what you expect. The streets are not lined with artists and artisans selling their works and wares. Exotic food and drink are not found on every street

corner. The Todos Santos Art Festival is as much about Mexican culture and performing arts as it is about paintings, drawings and sculptures.
Funded primarily by the government, the Art Festival brings folk dancing, music and theatre performance to Todos Santos. Guest speakers come to host conferences (including video) concerned with turtle conservation, fragile environments, fighting drug addiction and domestic violence, family relations, poetry appreciation, and Baja history. There are workshops teaching latin music and folk dancing. There are recitals featuring piano and poetry. Not your average art festival.
The final Saturday usually includes a public dance to a popular live band in the plaza. Many local art galleries also have special exhibits or shows to coincide with the occurrence of the annual Todos Santos Art Festival.
The hard work of organizing the festival is being done by many supporting community groups and individuals with the single goal of making each Todos Santos Art Festival one of the best ever held in Todos Santos. FESTIVAL DE ARTE TODOS SANTOS

Este año 2009, comenzará el 12 º anual Festival de Arte Todos Santos. El Festival de Arte podría no ser exactamente lo que usted espera. Las calles no están llenas de artistas o de artesanos vendiendo sus obras y productos. No hay comidas ni bebidas

en cada esquina. El Festival de Arte Todos Santos es más que solo cultura mexicana y artes escénicas, ya que se trata de pinturas, dibujos y esculturas.
Financiado principalmente por el gobierno, el Festival de Arte trae baile popular, música y la representación teatral a Todos Santos. Los oradores invitados a las conferencias hablan de temas relacionadas con la conservación de las tortugas, los entornos frágiles, luchar contra la adicción a las drogas y la violencia doméstica, las relaciones de familia, reconocimiento de la poesía, historia y Baja. Hay talleres que enseñan música latina y bailes tradicionales, recitales de piano y poesía.
El duro trabajo de organizar el festival que se está haciendo es gracias a muchos grupos de la comunidad y el apoyo a las personas con el único objetivo de hacer de cada Festival de Arte Todos Santos uno de los mejores que se celebra en México.
